Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Bittersweet chocolate, anisette aroma. Thick tan head. Deep ruby-black hue. Oh what a palate. Vinous fruit, chocolate, coffee, toffee, caramel accents, burnt grain, licorice, brown sugar. There’s so much going on here, molasses as it warms. Medium bodied, and the finish is oh so delicious. Long and sweet, turning to a hint of bitter hops. I love this prter, one of my favorites, a masterpiece, always available, and always excellent.

Very enjoyable! Tasted somewhat reminiscent of prunes or raisins but very roasty. Carbonation is suberb. Held a nice head the whole way down.

One of the best american porters, if not the best. Medium body, with a big roasty sweetness. Hops carry through the front. If you want to get into the porter style, here’s the one to try.

The aroma is, as my roommate put it, "dark chocolate to the tenth power." And I would have to agree about the flavor as well. Pure black, tan head, great full-bodied taste. A great offering.

A sharp odor, a dark brown color barely translucent. a sharp flavor with appreciated bitterness. A bit syrupy. The flavor is very complex with a deep palate.

Has the smell of delacate fruits that are in the taste in the front. Finishes with a considerably burnt malt flavor. Great beer.
