Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

The best porter I have had yet. WOW, a head that you could float Delta Burke on! Very dark in color, like a good porter it allows no light to pass through it when held to a light. Aroma of chocolate malt and perhaps cinnimon. Not overly sweet. This is crisp and not flat tasting like most porters I have had.

Excellent porter! A worthy working man’s brew . . . and a fine looking bottle to boot!

This was a very good porter! Nice rich black color with creamy head, deep somewhat coffee flavor, and a little hoppy. I enjoyed this porter very much.

Might have to do a side by side with Sierra Nevada Porter to pick a favorite. Total class, total quality from Anchor. Very roasty, nice bitter finish. A damn fine porter. Blows Yuengling and the supermarket porters out of the water.

I could just look at this beer all day and be happy. The best thing... the head would probably still be there when I finally drank it. Great porter taste, dry chocolate-coffee... did I mention it looks great? Excellent beer.

The three D's: Deep, dark, and delicious! Dark brown, with a nice tan head. Big roasty aroma, with chocolate and coffee hints. flavor is big, malty, smooth, and a little to the swet end of the spectrum. Glad this is readily available, and it is a toast to this beer seeing that there are 470 ratings and it has a rating of 3.95!

Wow, this is a very well done beer. It had everything that I would look for in a Porter. Smooth roastiness, bitter, burnt , malty, carmel, and a tad fruity. It is a delicious beer. I didn't want to get to the end of the glass. I will say that this beer demonstrates what's right with Anchor.
