Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Chocolate and vanilla aroma with caramel and fruit. Dark, dark brown in color with a beautiful dense tan head. Appetizing flavors of malt, caramel, coffee, chocolate, cola. Super rich in body. Finishes with a unique wine like quality and nice hop bite. One of the best porters in the world.

First impression: Wow! This is quite something. Black, full, vaguely-fruity aroma. An extraordinarily well-balanced and flavorful cascade of chocolate, coffee, caramel & malts (not to mention hops) overwhelm the senses.

Hands down, the best porter I’ve had the pleasure to sample, and right up there with any brew I’ve rated here over the past 18 months. Just wish I had more than one bottle on hand!

[Drauhgt at Tatoverede Enke] So smooth and wellbalanced that I can drink it for hours. One of my favorite beers, which I always buy more than one of.

Bottle. Damn, the more Anchor I have, the more I love them. This is just a classic looking porter. Deep mahogany with a perfect sized head and the perfect consistency. Not too thick, not too seltzery. Nice aroma of dark chocolate and hops. Doesn’t sound like they’d go together, but, who knew?! Great roasty, earthy, almost gritty mouthfeel. One sip is loaded with baker’s chocolate, the next milk chocolate, but it never gets close to cloying. Excellent porter

i loved this beer, very dark with some rubis reflection with a small creamy head and smell like mocha and hops. The taste is great and robust for a porter, rosted, mocha and creamy, one of the best porter i ever tasted.

A very good porter. Rich, dark, thick, and full-bodied. Great malt expression. Creamy and pleasing.

Still, in my opinion the best porter available! Period!! Pours black as night with a one-finger tan head. Nose of roasted malts and hints of caramel. Deliciously malty on the tongue with a good balancing bitter that reminds one of espresso or perhaps baker’s chocolate. Incredibly drinkable! Will always be one of my favorites!
