Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Beautiful black color and a creamy head. Nice sweet/bitter balance. Drink on the slightly warmer side.

Roasty. Deep. Another great beer from Anchor, equally good at room temperature and chilled, just excellent in general.

- deep, dark brown color with a light red toffee colored hue, light head, aroma is of bitter, roasted malt mixed with hops, light coffee/mocha aromas as well; rich roasted malt flavor, nice texture, a mix of sweetness – chocolate, and bitter roasted malt and hops

Deep, dark mahogany color. Large creamy head. Big chocolate aroma with some hops in the background. Light bitterness. Full malt flavor. Chocolate flavor dominates. Creamy. Nice!

An amazingly well balanced porter. Richly flavored with malted chocolate, light coffee, and something even creamier. The body is full and thick but not cloying, in fact it feels remarkably light and creamy on the tongue despite how full it is. Its almost impossible not to chase one sip with another.

Roasty malts weigh heavy on the aroma from this slightly brownish black porter. A light caramel head with large bubbles reduces quickly. The flavor is rich, creamy, lightly roasty, and filled with a mild bittersweet caramel/coffee flavor. Fairly complex and very tasty. The mouthfeel is creamy smooth and has a long finish. Overall a great porter.

This had a dark brown-black color.Aroma was biting malty.Head nice long lasting with deep maly look.Tasted like a stout.I liked this better than the Island brew and the Santa Barbara brewing co. stouts I tried.Had a biting almost green olive taste to it.I didn’t really like the taste ,but I know it is good.I might buy again.

This is by far my favorite "food" beer. Pours a dark black with a very thick head. Perfect balance of flavoring and doesnt leave a nasty taste in your mouth if you drink it while eating(like many beers do).
