San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. 12oz bottle - Black with creamy beige/offwhite, longlasting, head. Aroma of roasted malt and walnut shell. Flavors of semi-sweet chocolate, roasted coffee, and hint of walnut, with bitter hops finish. Solid porter.

Inky black, caramel colored head. Wonderful malty aroma, smells like dried fruit and chocolate. Mmmm, very tasty, choclate to start, with a nice bitter hop finish.

Wow, I was shocked with this beer becuase you can find it anywhere. It has so much chocolate in it. The mouthfeel is the best I’ve ever tasted in any beer.

A very happy surprise, exceeded my expectations. Great flavor, full like a stout. My favorite porter.

On tap at the Brewery in S.F. Lasting beige head on pour. Sweet, alcohol, and roasty malty smells with faint caramel. Nice hearty full flavored sweet roastiness up front followed by good bitterness, and medium length afteratse. Good amount of carbonation keeps it from feeling overly milky, and heavy, and it isn’t overly sweet either. A delicious porter. Would recommend.

12 oz bottle, dark dark brown body with a foggy light brown head. Very flavorful and tasty porter, not at all watery, but not too thick. Delicious!

dark and full head. root beer, coffee, chocolate and raspberry creamsickle aroma. medium to lightly heavy bodied, goes down smooth. black coffee aftertaste.

12 oz bottle: Nice and dark. Notes of coffee and chocolate. Excellent representation of a porter. Very drinkable, if somewhat heavy.
