Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Pours with a rich head that lasts to the bottom of the glass. Has a creamy feel and an accompanying smooth roasted coffe and chocolate flavor and just a hint of bitterness. A really easy-to-drink porter.

We really enjoyed this beer! Poured from the bottle a beautiful rich black color with a creamy tan head -- just watching it pour is a treat. Very rich flavor, dark, somewhat bitter, chocolate and mocha. Our only personal complaints would be that it finished a bit bitter to us, and sat just a tad heavy on the tongue. Those are minor complaints, though, and nothing that would keep us from agreeing that this a superior Porter.

This porter is just hard to beat. Seriously a wonderful brew here. Chocolate, coffee, dark dried fruits in the aroma and on the palate. Hops are perfect. Carbonation is perfect. Head is nice and tan with some good lacing. Full body, full flavor. Winner!

Bottled. Invicible black beer. Medium head is beige, ok creamy with some bigger bubbles. Aroma has lots of chocolate, dark fruits and sour coffee and chocolate beans in the finish. Malts are delicatedly roasted. Hops in the finish are dryish. Flavor is sweet & sour; swetness from the malts and fruits - sourness from coffee and chocolate beans. Medium to full bodied, smooth mouthfeel and a bit bitter-sticky finish. A great porter!

Fantastic beer! Aroma of chocolate, malted milk and coffee. Flavor was chocolaty, but had a Belgian-ale like banana in the finish.Warms me up, makes me smile, and helps me open the door to other people who are hesitant about "good" beer.

Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, raisin and liquorice. Flavor of roasted malt, coffee and dark syrup. A really good porter.

One of the best porters I’ve ever had the privilege of tasting. Somewhat salty aroma, dark black appearance, and solid head. Deep taste, somewhat sweet and full bodied. Recommended to every porter lover!
