Commercial Description:
San Francisco's famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Very thick dark brown, tan head. Strong aroma of roasted coffee, alcohol and raisins. More subtle but similar flavor with some malt. Very smooth and simple finish.

Pours dark brown with large light tan head that lasts forever. Aroma is sweet with caramel. Flavor is roasted and sweet and goes down real smooth. This is different than other porters I’ve had. Rich but smooth, it makes you want to drink more.

Pours extremely dark brown with very little ruby light coming through with a one inch tan head that drops after a short while. Nose is malty sweet, but not very strong in statement. Flavor is robust and matured with slight chocolate and coffee tones...though I think I am drinking this too cold. It is definitely better as it warms. Mouthfeel is thick with a good carbonation and bubbly feeling. Highly drinkable. Could go for this one again, and again, and again.

Re-rate. Bottle. Nose is slightly acidic dark chocolate and coffee. Opaque black with a brownish head, frothy fades to bubbly. Delicious and smooth. Full bodied thickness carries dark chocolate that isn’t overly sweet, well-balanced with some coffee and caramel notes in the finish. A wonderful beer.

Deep black appearance with a lasting thick tan head. Luscious roasts mix, cocoa, licorice, coffee, spicy hoppiness. Smooth, ligthly acidic, perfect carbonation. Dried fruits. Hop and roast malt assertive bitterness, dry long finish.

This beer poured a deep murky black fluid the defied any light wanting to pass through it. The aroma consists of nuts and toast with a hint of earthiness and leaves. Alcohol and raisins laced with smoke finish the nose. This beer was easy on the palate that filled my mouth with bitter dark chacolate and sweet plums. the creamy tan head lasted almost to the end and laced the glass with and even consistency.

Blacker than night. Thick frothy head with nive lacing. This has a note worthy appearance. Smells similar to brandy with notes of wheat. Tastes beautiful! Fig, bannana, grape, and wonderful!. Leaves you feeling refreshed and happy to be alive.

12 oz. bottle, pours a beautiful opaque black color with a small light tan head and a coating ring of lace. The scent was very chocolately, with hints of roasted barley, nuts and malt. The first sip provided a rush of malty flavor to the palate. A coating mouthfeel with some nice notes of chocolate cake, figs and barley present themselves. An excellent porter.
