Watery, tea-like, only colder and more bitter. Thin with tangy initial taste. No thanks. jcwattsrugger (5573), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 20, 2007 Bottle. Malty with mild hopped aroma. Orangish color with a small head. Flavor is malt, grain, slightly watery. Palate is thin. Resembles something like a Michelob Amber. Ok for what it is, like brewing a second pot of coffee without changing the grounds or the filter. blankboy (3251), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Mar 9, 2007 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & biegaman -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a hazy amber-orange with a small diminishing white head. Aroma of armpit, diacytil, grain and light sweet malt -- not pleasant. Flavour’s no better: grainy with diacytil and a disgusting aftertaste -- Ugh! So bad, I didn’t like this at all. HogTownHarry (4025), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 1, 2007 Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy and beigaman, my bottle - NOT $18 heh heh heh - that was mean. Slightly hazy amber with a decent creamy/rocky off-white head. Perfume hop and sweet light toasted malt aroma. Weird herbal/bitter taste, dry and brackish. Average soft body, decent carbonation, astringent, with a long bitter/harsh aftertaste. Meh. pHunbalanced (7), USA does not count | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 27, 2007 I was curious and curiousity killed the cat that was Anchor’s glowing reputation in my eyes (or nose and mouth as the case may be). I am a fanatic about the Steam and the Porter, but I’ll pass on the Small. It may be the nature of the style, but to me this was a watery brew that offered no body, no alcohol and no sweetness to balance the bitterness. Not my cup of beer, but not offensice. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 21, 2007 Bottle. Poured clear amber with medium white head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Medium sweet malty aroma. Medium body. Well balanced flavor with a medium bitter finish of moderate duration. Good brew. luvcasks (178), USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2007 From a bottle at the Anchor brewery
Golden with amber/orange highlights with a medium ivory quickly diminishing head
Taste: Slight toast, some caramel when the big hop/astringency comes from behind to overtake this light malt profile...
Palate: Light bodied with moderate carbonation and the woodsy (Northern Brewer?) hop bite
Overall: A rare style of beer... a hidden gem amongst the big-beer filled constellation... for a bitter seems too hoppy. What a tip of the hat to the traditional English partial gyle brewing tradition. Genius lives in the ability to brew magic in small beers
Cheers!!!
