Not a terribly bad beer. A summer wheat beer. Not much to say about it, but it sure isn’t a bad one. Give it a try! Wheaty.

Pours a hazy golden yellow. Aroams of bread, fruit and spices. Flavors of orange, spice and some hints of citrus hop.

I can see why Anchor retired this one, a so-so ale with little but its creamy thick head to redeem it. The aroma is a soft caramel and wheat, a little musty. Thin and slightly oily to the palate, the flavor is mildly sweet wheat with a modest bitter, sour finish. I don’t know where the folk at Sal’s found this, but they could have kept it hidden for my visit.

On tap. Poured a light yellow with a white head. Subtle aromas and tastes of wheat, fruits and lemons. Thinner body. Nothing special about this one.

This is certainly a unique rendition of an american wheat, but not a satisfying one. The flavor is bland with mild sweetness and no complexity. Bitter hops, though not strong, dominate the palate and little else is detectable. It pours crystal clear and copper/yellow with a white head. Oddly it smells pretty good but fails to translate into flavor. I expect better from Anchor.

Damn. As high as my appreciation is for Anchor, this one just does NOT do it for me. Thin, watery body and just not much beyond that. Recall those many years ago when I first got all excited about seeing it come in ... and then I tried it. Professed lover of the German style. Or other more aggressive American (or Belgian) styles. I'll go for a Liberty, though ....

Bottle. Pale yellow colored. Same damn thing as the Summer. Not good. Some wheat and malt in the aroma. No great taste. Very thin flavor. Not that great.

Bottled. Pale yellow. Light bodied and smooth with notes of vanilla. Unspectacular.
