The flavor is sweet, but sweet in a good way, I can taste candy sugar, some caramel, prunes, raisins, toffee, sweet malts, warming alcohol. No bitterness at all, but still a very good beer KnutAlbert (3191), Oslo, Norway

Seems like their border between bock and doppelbock is at 7.0%.
Lowely glow. Liquorice, candy sugar, burned sugar. A little sourness. Well balanced, warming. A true winter beer. rudolf (1782), Buffalo, New York, USA

While living in Germany for 3 years I discovered Andechs and I have never found anything I like as well. If anyone knows of availability in the US I would love to hear about it. It has been many years and my palate might have changed, but back in the day, this was absolutely the best. charlotte (2036), Vanløse, Denmark

Just way, way too grassy in aroma, flavor, what have you. Tastes as grassy as any pils I’ve had. Sweetness is way subdued. I don’t get the hype...AT ALL, but thanks to eaglefan538 for sharing! kappldav123 (1864), Markkleeberg, Germany
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 2, 2008 The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Very much foam for a doppelbock. Tastes very strong, but not as malty as exspected. Long finish, very drinkable. Really good doppelbock. aru (105), Smørum, Denmark
