Draught at Andechser Restaurant/Pub in Munich. This beer changed my mind on bocks. Dark brown with nice light beige head that seems to stay around forever. Flavor is surprisingly complex, sweet and malty with notes of caramel nuts, and fruit. I went twice with the intention of trying more of their brews, but couldn’t help but order this again! Fantastic beer!

Not too strong smelling lite malty and rich. This guy started off tingly and slightly sharp, but ended ultra smooth with a great after taste that is difficult to explain. Caramel? Maybe a little fruit even. A great brew.

Bottle. Poured a dark reddish brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, dark fruits, roasted nuts, and all around malty. Tastes of caramel, toasted nuts, dark fruits, and some chocolate.

Normally bock isn’t a complete favorite of mine, but I have to give in for the charm of this German strapping fellow... He has a dark brown color and a large head. His aroma is malty with notes of alcohol and the mouth feel is prickly. His flavour is very sweet with loads of roasted malt that gives notes of caramel and a hint of licorice. The alcohol is warming and the finish has a slight bitterness. The notes of roasted malt is in the taste from start to end, and leaves me with a very good overall impression of this nicely balanced bock.

I found this at the Delirium Café and I’m glad I had it when I was there because it was impossible to find in either Koln or Dusseldorf when I was there, despite its availability being listed on the Andechs website. This has a dark brown/reddish body with only a little head. There is a huge malty aroma with caramel notes that pours from the glass. The taste matches the aroma with big sweet malty flavors with caramel and some accompanying bitterness that builds at the end. As it warms up, the caramel presence increases until it is nearly the primary flavor. This is only medium bodied with good drinkability. It is a good beer but I did expect slightly better because of the reputation.

50cl bottle with a 2008/08/02 drink by date. Murky brown with a light tan head. Good smell is classic dopplebock with sweet malts, roasted nuts, black licorice, and smoke. Smooth, slick mouthfeel. Great taste of blackened malts with a black licorice and tobacco sweetness along with an earthy, musty essence. The best Bock I’ve had since the 1980’s, probably ever but i can’t remember that far back. This brew simply blows away the "the best" Dopplebocks here @ RB. Excellent. 11/30/2007

Doppelbock corposa e piena, versa colore rosso molto scuro con grande schiuma; aroma crudo e dolce, sapore complesso ma tutto sommato carezzevole che nasconde la gradazione alcolica. Tra le migliori doppel assaggiate.
