This is it! The powerful, full-bodied, strong beer which is Andechs's trademark. Brewed in the traditional Triple Mash procedure and available throughout the year, not just during the "Starkbierzeit"!

Rating #700. Enjoyed on our honeymoon. This was my favorite beer of the trip. Pours a dark brown with red hints. Aroma is of chocolate, dried fruits, and raisins. The dried fruit is strong yet balanced well. Bakers chocolate, licorice, hints of dried fruit, slightly bitter with a touch of tar/charred notes. Light sweetness in the finish is complemented with charred flavors. Excellent doppelbock.

Thanks to Brewblackhole. Dark reddish color. Smell of roasted malt, cake batter, nuts, caramel and minor spice. Tastes the same but more caramel and roasted malt taste. What a wonder beer. Minor dry taste at the end. I could drink this over and over again.

Bottle (Thanks alot Roman!). Reddish brown color with a medium beige head. Malty aroma with some roastiness, caramel, and a bit of chocolate. Sweet flavor with strong maltiness, caramel, hints of hops and a rather dry finish (although it still retains some of the sweetness), with a bit of alcohol. Medium to full body. I didn’t find this to be mind-blowing, but definitely a great beer. I’m looking forward to try this again (maybe at the brewery), next time I’ll be in Germany.

Draft. Gorgeous deep dark amber-brown with lasting airy head. Aroma is fruity with raisins, bread, honey, and molasses. Gorgeous body, seems light and quaffable. It’s total liquid bread. Dangerously drinkable.

Pours a dark brown beer. A nose of malt, dates and chocolate. The beer has a medium body is thick and creamy. Molasses dominate the flavour with hops playing a supporting role. One of my favourite styles of beer of which this is a fantastic example.

Bottle. Very sour (the first smell), later on the smell of chocolate and malt. Dark red body, creamy off-white head, fully lasting. Moderate sweet start and finish. Medium to full body, very creamy texture, flat carbonation. Very strong beer

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a reddish hue and a nice light brown head. Aroma is sweet malty to dried fruity. Quite sweet flavour. Medium to fullbodied. Distinct bread flavour and slight spiced. Very delicious brew. Ends slight warming with a decent bitterness. Great.

550ml bottle via trade (thanks saarlander!). Have been saving this one in the back of the cellar for almost a year now, i think. Pours a dark clear copper with a huge beige head. Nose is slightly oxidized, and with caramel and plums. Taste is the same with a somewhat metallic astringant aftertaste, and a little smokiness...i would swear there is even some earthy hops down underneath somewhere...but frankly after a DFH WWS, it is hard to be real precise on that. I can discern that the body is light/medium and the carbonation is a bit too high for my liking...it is strange but this almost reminds me of a hoppy Pac Nw American brown ale with slightly excessive carbonation...it isn’t that of course, and likely is not even close in the ingredients used..but it does have many of those same characteristics.
