| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 4, 2007 Purchased in Amsterdam, March 2007, with "best by" of November 2007. Full bodied aroma with complex malt including caramel, brown sugar, some smoke and a little fruit. Thick, heavy brown appearance, very dark. The fullest flavored bock I have had, ever, ever. Rich, lightly roasted malt, a hint of smoke, a hint of brown sugar and molasses, and an exceptionally full and heavy mouthfeel. Could this be the world’s best lager? drewbeerme (2291), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 3, 2007 .5 L draught directly from oak barrel casks at Andechs. pours beautiful ruby with off white head. nose is sweet toffee, vanilla, and nutmeg. flavor is really nutty with vanilla, touch of chocolate and coffee, caramel and cherries, plums. best beer in munich? mouthfeel is med. carb is med. really special stuff.......bottle ratings would probably land a 3.7 or 3.8, as the carbonation is not as smooth and there seemed to be a lack of vanilla notes. Good lingering taste with a nice body. I wish I had written more than a summary and some number with this one, but I do remember it was very very nice Doppelbock and something that I hope to have again some time. jeverszeuge (183), Germany

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 9, 2007 I can see why this rates so well, I like it though the missus is not that partial to it. Good colour although a short head. Distinctive nose and plenty of smooth malty flavours, warming alcohol, dark fruits and a long finish.
