Commercial Description:
This is it! The powerful, full-bodied, strong beer which is Andechs's trademark. Brewed in the traditional Triple Mash procedure and available throughout the year, not just during the "Starkbierzeit"!

real sweet with a real caramel aroma. Just the thing for autumn. Really an art doing this without sugar. long live "dem bayerischen reinheitsgebot" I recommend!

Pours a deep mahogany/brown, bit of tannish foam that dissipates quickly. Odor is a bit sweet and cloying, as is the initial taste. Seriously, not sure what the big deal is, I’ve had much better DB’s than this one.

Recently, Tried this on a trip to europe, at the Andech’s Monastary. This is now the best beer I have ever tasted. In my opinion this is the most under-rated beers on the entire web site. Nice malty flavor. Smells like paradise. Everyone who loves dark beers has to try this one once in there life.

Mahongany red in colour. Large off white head that disappeared realtively quickly. Lots of malt sweetness and a little smoke. Moderate to full body carbonation is moderate. Very drinkable. Lots of malt sweetness broken up by the little smoke. Good drining beer.

Bottle. Was definitely looking forward to this one, but I was a tad disappointed. Color was close to almoond. Aroma of caramel, nuts and fruit. Flavor was the same with a lot of bread, dough and alcohol. Dark fruit throughout as well. Smoke/roasted notes were subdued.
