| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 14, 2005 Aroma rum and plum, dry coconut, chocolate, bread. Looks: rusty garnet, murky, with shimmering red highlights. No head. Sweetness smell is subdued and not overly syrupy. A bit like an old ale-type sweetness without the fruit overtones. Slightly oxdized...Salty sardine-type whiffs. Tastes: like a dark, rich, bread/muffin type thing. Thick, heavy mouthfeel without being syrupy. Not very sweet. No noticeable alcohol. Weak coffee on swallow. Unlike any doppelbock I have had before. I’m having a hard time deciding between this and the Church Brew Non-Denominator. Decadent but unexpected. MANY THANKS TO NAT AND JIM! =) wunderbier (1271), Tampere, Finland
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 7, 2005 Aroma seems to be primarily chocolate, toasted coconut, nuts (Almond Joy?!) and rich caramel. I like the aroma but it seems distinctly un-bockish. It has a lot of the elements in there, but something is missing. The head is, sadly, shortly lived and lacing isn’t great either. We tried several glasses but could get nothing to stick. Still the body has a great hue to it…always changing color depending on the light…I’ll call it dark amber for argument’s sake. The flavor starts sweet, but thin, and builds towards the end. Rich tasting like very dark bread. Body is medium and slick with average carbonation. The bottom line is: A bit different than most doppelbocks I’ve had (pretty varied style eh?) but not bad by a long shot. A good head, maltier aroma, and thicker body would have made this a barn-burner. Thanks Em! 11026 (1772), Alabama, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 4, 2005 Bottle. Deep brown color with red ruby colors when backlit. Smallish off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is potently molasses with little notes of raisin. Medium bodied and smooth. Pleasantly sweet with a nice hop balance. Little bits of hop bitterness in the finish. Very nice, thanks Jeppe!!

The true king of beers I must say. raisins and toffee in the aroma when it heats up, taste is much hoppier than I expected but the kick in the tongue is just awesome, this has the perfect combination of hops and malt. You can drink shiploads of this, words cant describe this....
