Bottle; Darkbrown/red with tight longlasting excellent looking head. Aroma of caramel and dried fruit. Flavor is sweet and caramelly with some subdued hops. A bit metallic. Mouthfeel is incredible smooth with relatively low carbonation.

Unfortunately the head disappeared on my beer within a couple of minutes. Otherwise a wonderful deep ruby color and a nice looking beer. Lots of malt flavors, dark and well balanced. Not too sweet like Salvator. Quite nice.

Deep tawny colour with a ruby tinge. Negligible carbonation. Sweet malt, plummy fruit and dark chocolate in the aroma. Silky, voluptuous mouthfeel. Undeniably sweet and maybe just a little too sticky. Very rich flavours of licorice, caramel, molasses and more fruit. Soft, but weighty. Solid malt backbone. Splendid stuff. Bottle. Chocolate, raisin, malt and tannic aroma - nice and subtle. Dark amber-brown color - small head. Creamy chocolate malt initial with a suprisingly mild tangy sweet middle and a mild astringent finish that is much milder than many other doppelbocks I’ve tried. A very complex palate. A premiere doppelbock.

Bottle: Displays a rich mahogany hue that shines a beautiful ruby when seen against a bright light, large frothy light tan head and very good lace. The aroma screams out heavy malting with lots of caramel, toffee, and bready notes abound. Also detected some prune, aromatics, and cavendish tobacco notes as well. Moderate phenols and anise star like quality add to the nose. The taste starts as expected, sweet and roasty with just a nice counter balance of fruit twang and pepper for depth. Oh hey, I get some seasalt, cashew, apple and birchbier undertones too! Wonderful tasting without over dominating the palate. The feel is the one area I wish was better, I would like such a highly touted doppel to be richer and lush upon my tongue. This is a bit too fizzy. High marks for the mostly hidden alcohol content and the reason for the four rating "palate". Overall, while my rating is quite high, I still was left with a feeling of longing for something more, to have my "socks knocked off". This didn’t do that, perhaps on tap it would have. IslandHaole hooked me up with this treat! Clear mahongany pour, small tan head. Toffee, chocolate, sweet malts and caramel on the nose. Flavor matches the nose initially, ends dry and sweet. Feels a little thin, but coats well and has a creamy touch. Outstanding.

This is so smooth and wellbalanced..A nice soft sweetness, turning into a coffeelike bitterness. Excellent brew, the best (Doppel)bock so far.., and probably one of the best beers in the world.

What can I say? Perhaps one of the best beers I´ve ever had, color was beautiful, taste was great. Alcohol was there, but not too noticable. one of my best beers of all time! Balanced, balanced, balanced!
