a good doppleblock. Has a rich full bodied flavour, sweet toffee flavour, but not too sweet. Average carbonation, crisp finish, good mouthfeel. Overall I enjoy doppelbock’s occasionally and this is a good one. Nothing to go crazy over but is quite good.

Bottled. Dark ruby brown, firm light beige head with solid lacing. A bit rusty, sweetish malty nose with mild notes of dry smoke, wood and loads of toffee. Very syrupy flavor, herbs, mild roastiness, some rust and alcohol. Hollow finish with moderate herbal bitterness. Full bodied, a tad overcarbonated mouthfeel. A good basic dobbelbock, nothing that complex nor interesting, just warming.

Dark brown with a slight red tint and a nice creamy head that died a bit too quick like Mr Halloran in The Shining. Dark malts, caramel chocolate hints. Nice enough, I liked it but could do better. I’m in a tough mood though. Like Wanderlei Silva against Quinton Jackson 1 and 2. Not no. 3 though. That was a different story.

500cl bottle, pours a deep red with a large beige head. Lots of malt and dried fruit - dates, raisins - on the nose. Roasted malt balanced by a sweetness and alcohol, with hints of mocha and dry grass. Dangerously drinkable.

500mL bottle. Pours a clear chestnut color, capped with a fairly large khaki head. Enticing aroma; roasted malt, grain and hay take the forefront, and are nicely complimented by dark chocolate, molasses, and mild hops. Grain and roasted malt are the dominant flavors, with alcohol, chocolate cake, and dark fruits rounding things out and adding complexity. Fairly long finish, with chocolate and malt lingering on the palate. Very drinkable. The best doppelbock I’ve ever tasted. World Class.
