Commercial Description:
This is it! The powerful, full-bodied, strong beer which is Andechs's trademark. Brewed in the traditional Triple Mash procedure and available throughout the year, not just during the "Starkbierzeit"!

A deep red beer with a small fast disappearing head. It has a very sweet aroma with notes of alcohol and rowan berries. It has a very powerful bock taste with lots of sweetness, rowan berries, and notes of alcohol. But it is a little flat. It has a good palate. It's very much like Carlsberg now discontiued Semper Ardens Bock.

(Bottle 50 cl) Dark brown (almost cola-flavoured) with a huge, neat and lightly brownish head. Wonderful nutty nose and immensely full and malty aromas. Has some of the same flavour-patterns as Belgian trappists - although a higher bitterness. A great bock indeed. 201099

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a reddish hue and a nice light brown head. Aroma is sweet malty to dried fruity. Quite sweet flavour. Medium to fullbodied. Distinct bread flavour and slight spiced. Very delicious brew. Ends slight warming with a decent bitterness. Great.

An outstanding doppelbock. Delicious, big maltiness, loads of flavours, perfectly balanced. The Andechs cloister itself is well worth a visit, but a bit dangerous if you walk up the hill on a hot summer’s day and then try to cure your thirst with doppelbock...

Draught @ Kloster Andechs. Dark strong bock with nice head. Smooth caramel and fruit flavours. Wonderful chocolate roasted malt aroma followed by a dry finish.

Draught. Dark brown colour, nice light-brown head. Roasted, malty flavour. Slight coffee aftertaste. 5 4 7 3 16

Draught at the Kloster. Sweet malt aroma. Clear dark brown colour. Big stable creamy tan head. The flavour is quite sweet, has some malt syrup notes. Even seems as if it has a little sweet liquorice. It is wonderfully sweet, strong and warming. 7 4 7 4 18

Bottled (thanks DerDoppelbock). Very dark amber colour, beige mediumsized head. Aroma of malts, some alcohol and caramel. Lovely balance. Hoppy malty and sweet vegetably flavour. Aftertaste is grassy, hayish and malty. Lovely palate also.
