Swalden_28 (522), McKinney, Texas, USA May 6, 2008 Bottle, Thanks to Bu11zeye.
Poured a nice hazy orange copper with medium beige head with ok retention. Aroma was malty and hoppy citris like grapefruit. Flavor was much the same, nice hop flavor, a nice hop strength with nice bitter. Has a full body with medium carbonation. Very good beer.
blankboy (2517), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 5, 2008 Two bottles (22oz) shared by me & HogTownHarry with GregClow, jerc, mabel & tupalev. Pours a very slightly hazy orange-amber with an average size frothy off-white head. Nice lacing. Nice aroma which is equally malty and hoppy (citrus and piney resiny hops). Pleasant, dry flavour of caramel malt and resiny hops along with some fruit and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good stuff, it’s a fairly well balanced DIPA and I quite enjoyed it.

very floral aroma,fresh, grassy.
very hoppy taste with a little malt to balance. aftertaste was bitter layover from all those hops. mpersinger (16), , California, USA Jul 30, 2008 22 oz bottle pours well: pale copper color, slight carbonation, with lasting head the color of linen.
Aroma sparks of green apple candy (Now & Later and Jolly Rancher) and lemony. Flavor profile is quite complex (though absent of apple): orange peel, root beer and horehound, then a severe gripping hop dryness that seems to settle on the roof of the mouth, rather than the extreme sides of the tongue, as most very hoppy beers. The finish is not as blinding as many super-hopped beers, though duration is quite lasting.
This champion IPA goes the distance and is worthy of its "Imperial" designation.
**The label claims 20 hop additions.
Anyone know which hops, and at what point?
P. S., this beer seemed to morph dramatically as it warmed, losing some complexity and taking on a flavor of shellac and a sluggish viscosity common among hopped up brews, so make sure to try it cold. Delirium (414), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jul 30, 2008 Bomber. Pours somewhat cloudy golden-orange with a large, slightly off-white, head. Aroma is quite malty, heavy on the light fruit (pineapple? melon?), and with some citrus and woody hops. Flavor is an equal mix of the same sort of malt and quite bitter woody hops, with a long lingering finish that’s both melon-sweet and bitter. Somewhat atypical for a DIPA, with more malt character and fewer hops on the nose (but plenty on the palate), but I like it quite a bit. bager (2027), Copenhagen N, Denmark Jul 22, 2008 Bottle. Clear golden coloured with an offwhite head. Somewhat hoppy with notes of dry bread, raisins, pineapples, grapefruit, very light maltyness. Nice hoppyness.
