Oct 25, 2007 12 oz bottle. Black with a thick, foamy brown head. Coffee, dark chocolate and licorice nose. Sweet, lightly burnt malt and coffee flavors, some bitter chocolate. Bittersweet chocolate finish. Nice.

Oct 25, 2007 Opaque black with a tight tan head. Nice roasted malt aroma with a dash of chocolate. Flavor is rich and dark: semi-sweet roasted malt with a definite grain/oat presence and some coffee notes. Excellent.

Oct 24, 2007 Sampled at Badgerben’s Cellar Reduction Night. Pours a dark root-beer brown brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind a ring and fine film. Aroma of dark roasted malt, some flowery hops, coffee, some smoked oats and a touch of chocolate. Taste is medium to full bodied, very lightly carbonated with some smoked malt and semi-sweet hop character. Finish is semi-sweet, creamy, smooth with a slight dark roasted oatmeal aftertaste.

Oct 24, 2007 Opaque body, with a tan head that diminished to just a thin layer. Sporadic lacing. Milk caramel and chocolate chip cookie aroma (after it sat for a couple minutes). Deep, semi-sweet roasted malt flavor initially, and then it quickly transforms into an instant coffee-like bitterness. Average carbonation, smoothness, and weight for the style. Not a bad stout, but I was actually expecting a bit more from this brewer. This is their second-highest rated brew, I do believe, and I have to say that surprises me somewhat.

Oct 19, 2007 Bottle via trade with jake65. Vanilla, caramel, warm oatmeal, roasted malt with a tough of hops on the nose. Pours rich black with a creamy brown head. Decent balance of dry hops and sweet creamy chocolaty malt on the palate. Creamy, leaning toward full bodied with lively carbonation. Thanks Jake!

Oct 19, 2007 On tap: the beer came off the tap opaque with two fingers of head that settled to a very thin layer on the top. Thinner than more dark beers. aroma was slighted roasted with a couple of bitter elements. Flavor was rather "meh" good but not complex enough. It didn’t have the roasted dryness that comes in some stouts (yes even sweet stouts) and it didn’t have the bittersweet chocholate, coffee taste that I so enjoy from a dark beer. I guess this beer was a little flabby, it lacked real character, but was drinkable and not offensive. It was weak on stout taste, but had some roasted and matly elements, on top of a clean bitterness. decent palte but it could have been smoother and "creamier". Finished okay with the bitterness becoming a little more apparent.

Oct 18, 2007 Over carbonated producing a HUGE head unlike other stouts. One dimension of flavor with a heavy emphasis on the hops; bitter more than sweet. Didn’t have the thick creamy mouthfeel that most Oat or Sweet Stouts normally present.

Oct 15, 2007 thick tan head nice lacing. Body is velvety and creamy with hints of oats, fudge, and espresso. very bland on the finish, i guess that would make it sessionable
