Bottle. Dark, dark brown color, brown/beige head that dissipates pretty quickly. Some cocoa, coffee, nice spicy dry bite at the finish. Another great Anderson Valley beer!

Black colored, vanishing beige head. Strong chocolate with sweetness in aroma, roastiness, toffee and mild alcohol there too. Good aroma. Medium bodied. Also flavor is rich with plenty of chocolate, sweetness, roastiness and some licorice. Aftertaste has good balancing hops, which last with touch of chocolate.

Pours dark brown with a thick deep brown head. Rich roasted malt aroma with some chocolate tones and woody hops in the background. Medium / full body with quite a bit of soft frothy carbonation. Taste has roasted creamy malt, dark chocolate and vanilla. Finish has some spicy woody hops up front with the roasty malt in the background - bit of a reversal of how the taste are distributed in the inital taste. Very enjoyable stout.

Pours a dark black/brown with tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Aroma and appearance are quite good. Flavors of predominately chocolate, roasted malt and oats. Hints of coffee and pine. Has a bitter smokey finish, which is kind of odd for a sweet stout. Smooth mouthfeel, but a little to thin. Good stout, but a little thin and bitter for the style.

(Bottle from <!-- A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/w target=blank -->Julio’s Liquors<!-- /A -->) Pours very, very dark birch-beer brown with a thick tan head. Aroma a bit piney, along with chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel smooth, a little oily, very slightly prickly. A few rings of lace. Flavor is fairly rich and bitter coffee with baker’s chocolate along with a bit of pine. Only very light hop bitterness. Lightly sweet. Nice.

12 oz bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown with a creamy brown head that goes to a ring that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is sweet chocolate and lactose and some earthy grains.

The flavor is slightly sweet chocolate and strong roastiness followed by some acidic, bitter hoppiness. I got some sour notes towards the end. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and low on carbonation.

Overall, a decent stout. More bitter and roasty than I was expecting from an oatmeal stout. This is a good beer, but nothing too special and a bit overpriced.
