Commercial Description:
With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

Light in texture with a balanced palate and taste of coffee and oatmeal. A descent oatmeal stout.

2009 Tap. What a wonderful surprise! Saw this on tap at my local homebrew supply shop...and wow! What a find. Dark, coffee aroma with a similar complexion. Mocha brown head quickly dissipates. Flavor of cinnamon, caramel, and light coffee, this is a great tasting stout. Similar to other oatmeal stouts with a burned grain sort of aftertaste. Thick, but not cloying. Complex, but very drinkable. A wise choice.

Great stout. Amazing deep brown black color with medium tan head. Intense aromas of coffee oats and choc with similar flavor. A must try.

Bomber. Pours clear dark brown with a medium sized tan head. Aroma has lush dark chocolate, cream, oats, and dark malt. Not too much hop presence on the nose. Flavor follows suit, a medium-full blend of chocolates, caramel malt, oats, and a touch of toastiness. Palate is a bit thin in my opinion, but still manages to hold the flavors present. Finish is medium in length, with prickly carbonation.

12 ounce bottle. Cool picture with a bear. Smells rather chocolaty with some great malt aroma. Nice coffee flavor kind of sweet but still nicely bitter. Good brew

Bottle 12oz: Poured black, but nor as opaque as other stouts. Nice sustaining head. Smells of yeast burnt malt, and coffee. Flavor was pretty good with coffee and chocolate bitterness with a slight malt sweetness. Mouth was medium feel for an oatmeal stout. Nice stout.

This is a pretty good meal in a bottle. Nice roastiness balanced by malt sweetness and a huge body. Definitely one of the better Oatmeal Stouts out there.
