kseecs16 (571), Westmont, Illinois, USA Jun 24, 2008 Draught at the Library Alehouse, Santa Monica, Ca. 6/20/08.
Opaque creamy tan head, thick lacing. Rich creamy malt aroma with a milk chocolatey and oatmeal taste and aroma, nice smooth with little char or bitterness.
fidel (208), Livermore, California, USA Oct 8, 2008 Dark brown/black, roasted malts, coffee, oats, little chocolate, little wood, little molasses. A little thin. Praetorian (58), Los Angeles, California, USA Oct 6, 2008 Black in color with a medium sized, light brown head with little lacing. The aroma is of turkish coffee, chocolate, oak, and molasses. The flavor is suprisingly sweet throughtout with notes of molasses, coffee and chocolate. The palate is watery. It’s not a bad stout, but the texture was a big let down and I felt the flavor was somewhat bland...decent I guess, but nothing special. Svesse (1811), Hässelby, Sweden Oct 5, 2008 (Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Rosated, malty nose with smooth creamy chocolate, roasted oats and caffe latte. Malty, roasted taste with notes of milky chocolate, toffee (Swedish Dumlekola to be precise), caffe latte and a smooth, bittersweet finish. Balanced sweetness. Medium body, smooth and creamy texture. Very nice one! smashteroid (156), USA Oct 2, 2008 This was a beer where the anticipation was better than the actual product. Served cold from bottle. Poured black with a nice-sized tan head. Aroma is very sweet with chocolate and oatmeal. Taste was equally sweet, good roasted malts, but it didn’t have enough creaminess for me. Compares pretty well to other like-stouts. gsmitty80 (534), Washington DC, USA Oct 1, 2008 I was bored with all the other beers and realized i hadnt had one of these yet. Compares to most high end oatmeal stouts, thick beatuful body and color, nice sweet and chocolaty taste. Only a little bite but not enough to slow you down. Easily drinkable for a stout.
