FlyingSwine (92), Colorado, USA Apr 9, 2008 Pours a dark black with a thin, dark tan head. Great aroma, chocolate/caramel dominate the nose. Flavor is light, but takes on roasted nuts, chocolate and coffee. A bit of an alcohol bit on the finish. Palate is smooth, but far thinner than expected...not nearly as "thick or rich" as the commercial description would have you believe. Overall a very drinkable oatmeal stout.
RunDWP (104), San Jose, California, USA Jul 14, 2008 22 oz bottle purchased at BevMo. Poured a jet black colr with a thick tan head. Nice roasty, coffee and chocolate aroma. Dense, roasted flavor with coffee and chocolate bitterness. Just a little hops presence at the end. No sweetness to speak of in the taste, which isn’t a bad thing. Silky mouthfeel. Really enjoyed drinking this one. Gregis (848), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Jul 11, 2008 Bottle purchased at Corral Liquors in Granite City, IL. Pours jet black with a dense, creamy, khaki head and sheeting lace. The nose is a muted blend of sweet chocolate and roasted malt. The mouthfeel is on the light side of medium-bodied and silky-soft with a lightly bitter-roasted finish. Nice. The flavor expands upon the nose with sweet, almost lactic chocolate up front, dark roasted malt and just a touch of hop bitterness to finish off the flavor profile. This is a fine beer and one that I would buy regularly if it were available locally. boFNjackson (465), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 6, 2008 Bottle... Poured black with a light brown head. This is a great stout! Aroma of oatmeal cookies. Really smooth silky palate, a nice contrast of heavy and light. The roasted malt flavors dominate while sweet, oatmeal and chocolate notes rise in the background. Finishes sweet and robust. cbeers21 (351), Miami, Florida, USA Jul 4, 2008 Nice deep brown/black pour with thinning head. Oaty, nice robust chocolate malts come off the nose. Nice toasted aromas. Well-bodied, oaty, chewy, almost tooth coating iwth a nice light coffee maltiness with a solid hop backbone. Well done. BlackDonald (696), On a beer trip all over the USA, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 You know I’ve never been crazy about this beer. It was always just a bit too overdone for me. Graham cracker maltiness, with some chocolate, and a oily mouthfeel, that almost has a milky sweetness in the finish. Finishes rich and dry.
