Poured from tap a darker shade of amber with a swirl of light and dark tan medium sized head. The aroma had a slight smell of chocolate, caramel and toast. The taste was a sweet toffee caramel followed by an herbal hoppiness that was nicely balanced, leading to a soft bittering finish. I finished this one fast so I may have to re-judge it at some later point.

12 fl. oz. bottle, St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco, 18th Feb 2008. Pours a rich amber colour with a persistent head that leaves decent lacing. Inviting aroma of toffee, malt, fennel and other spices gets your mouth watering. Peppery at first, then malty and then pleasingly hoppy. Full bodied but lively on the tongue, this stands up well to food. A very nice amber ale.

Nice and clean! A pretty good beer, that is golden brown, with a light head. Crisp taste, one of my favorite Anderson Valley’s!

12oz bottle. Clear brown with a small head. Toasty and caramel malt aroma. Sweet malty flavor with with light hopping; pretty smooth and clean. Medium light body with crisp carbonation. Decent.

Draft. An ok pale ale, sort of dark and the caramels were unusual, one gllass was more than enough for me though.

12oz. A little more character than most ambers I have had. Poured amber (imagine that) with a bit of orange on the rim. Nose is a bit subdued, but I get some caramel and a bit of citrus. Good hops in the body, once again the caramel and possibly a touch of vanilla show their face and it is then gone in the soft body. A decent beer.
