I notice that sometimes this beer tastes extremely fresh, as it does here. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 26, 2007 A lacing, light tan head on top of a red-hued body. Toffee-like nose that is not too sweet, some diacetyl, and an earthy, complimentary hop. Flavor has a great profile with the sweetness winning but oh what a well done sweetness. The earthy, gritty hop bitterness cuts underneath the sweetness and creates a long finish and a tastey aftertaste. This is one of my favorite beers to keep in the fridge at all times. It is solid and consistent. Papsoe (15107), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Nice aroma of fruity hops. Medium body, pleasant accents of caramel with a light sweetness. The finish is dry without much bitterness. A very well crafted and quaffable amber. 200307 beerphilosophy (14), New York, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 22, 2007 Nice beer, but not up to par with the Hot Ottin’ IPA which I believe is their winner. The beer starts with a nice sweetness but doesn’t really go anywhere. Was hoping for a little more body from this respected brewery. Suttree (2743), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 17, 2007 Amber ales can benefit from lower expectations. It seem a lot of brewers kind of do a "by-the-numbers" beer . Just throw a little caramel malty flavor, then a mild hop finish and Voila! An amber ale is born. I was impressed, then, that this one had more flavor than it needed to -Sweet, surprsingly fruity aroma, with a whiff of brown sugar and even a touch of bourbon. Nicely sweet and rich, with toffee, grapes amd apples, then a touch of whiskey and a mild hoppy finish. I’d drink it again. Aquilo (279), California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 17, 2007 Pours red-brown with a foamy pale brown head. Smells of mango (yum!) and hazelnut. Flavor is malty, with a little hops, perhaps some black tea. Velvety finish. Rather enjoyable.
