I had never seen that before in an amber ale. What’s even more flabbergasting is that it smelled like a malt-forward beer, lightly fruity, with hints of caramel while having very little hop bitterness. Much to my amazement, the flavor was rather sweet with only a touch of bittering hops at the end. What will they think of next? A hoppy IPA?
Oh yeah, this stuff is too expensive. fakepurseninja (785), Washington, USA

The hops were also very noticable with light hints of caramel and some various earthy flavors. Nice dry finish. Looks better than it tastes but overall is a decent drink - above average. brstp (201), Princeton, New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 9, 2007 I thought this was quite good for the medicore amber ale style. Pour is fairly dark amber with decent off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, malt, and hops. Flavors of sweet malt, caramel, toffee, and enough hops to balance the beer. A nice enjoyable amber. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 6, 2007 Bottled. Caramel and hops nose, light citrus and fruit, certainly lemon and peach. Sweet with some cookie dough. Clear red body with a foamy beige head. Tastes caramelly with a balanced bitter. Finishes with some dry biscuit and flowery hops. Light bubbles on the tongue fade into smooth light-medium body. There really is a nice balance struck here, and a surprisingly good mix of dark fruity sweetness and bready dryness, but it’s too light and hollow. hophead75 (1959), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
