smooth, sweet and tasty. I little sour aftertaste and very dry finish. I would skip this one.

Slightly hazy copper-amber, with a good-sized tan head. Peppery, toasty aromas that are distinctive but inviting. Somewhat thin mouthfeel, with malt that starts out caramel but then turns drier and roasted in character. The hops are faint but decidedly citrus in profile. A smidgen of oxidative notes lurk in the background. Finish is a little astringent. This beer looks great and smells very good, but the drying astringency didn’t leave such a good impression. I would bet that it would show better paired with food, however.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a rich caramel color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma is sweet and lightly fruity with a mild toffee undertone. The flavor is light caramel and mild sweet malts that blend into a slightly bitter finish. Nothing special.

What a nice looking beer. It is, as advertised, a nice dark copper color. Aroma is a nice mix of sweet malt and tart hop. Flavor is surprisingly bitter and both the hops and malts are easily identified. As the beer warmed the caramel malt faded somewhat and the tart hops came to the front. This one started out strong but couldn’t pull it together at the finish.

22 OZ Bomber pours a chestnut brown, with a nice medium foamy head, some lacing, slightly diminishing. Aroma of Carmel and malt. A taste of malt, with a slight bitter finish. Not overly impressed, good but not great.

12 oz bottle Deep amber colour with an off white head. Citrusy/grapefruity hop aroma over caramelly/toasty maltiness. Quite fresh smelling. Flavour is well-balanced with a bit of earthiness behind all of the sweet maltiness. Biscuity/crackery malts. Sweet, but not overly so. Good balance. Definitely one of the better amber ales I’ve had.

Was going to rate this one pretty low, but after a few more tastings, the beer grew on me. Burnt amber color with an odd head: the sudsy head stuck together in clumps as it dimished to a thin layer. Plenty of lacing. Aroma was sweet and fairly strong on the hops as would be expected from an American amber, with a little citrusy fruit in there as well. Flavor is sweet to start out with a very long hop finish. Fizzy palate, burning sensation, medium body. A robust, heavy amber, although it mellows as it warms. Prefer the balance in Alaskan Amber better.

really good amber ale, everything that Anderson Valley does is good. This is their "house" beer and it is good. Like Rogue Amber a bit better but this one is great!
