| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Jul 23, 2006 12 oz bottle; Aroma was very chocolatey, caramel and extremely intising. Not one of my favorites but was really up there on flavor-- lots of hoppiness and not much of a smooth but more bitter taste (which I personally love). linc33 (177), Albany, New York, USA

Great complex malts with awesome balance in finish. Full, creamy texture. Seems like this brewery, when the bottles aren’t bad, really do their beers well. A very nice brew for sipping and enjoying. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2006 Bottle. Poured a hazy orange color with a fizzy off white head that quickly dissipated. The aroma was mainly hoppy with a slight hint of malts. The flavor found honey, citrus, and caramel. Medium body with light even bitterness throughout. 505 (271), Echo Park, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 18, 2006 Amber pour, little head. Nice aroma, good hops and caramel. Very nice flavor, caramel background, with tart citrus hops up front. Somewhat dry finish though. Medium-thin body. Delicious beer though. Great on a summer day/with a meal. eaglefan538 (2385), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 11, 2006 Updated: Jan 4, 2007A very enjoyable amber, pours the amber orange color with a decent head that laced ok. The aroma was malty with light resinous hops. Flavor was more malty than hoppy, nice caramel base with some light spiciness, initially somewhat like ginger but more prominently of tea bags. The mouthfeel was moderate but very drinkable. Finish was somewhat dry for the malty sweetness and had a light hop touch to it. A very nice amber ale. Re-rate on draft, 1/07: Pretty comparable to the first tasting, although fresher and crisper on draft out in Flagstaff. The fruity aspects were missing (good for me) and the earthy, nicely hopped balanced flavor was super enjoyable. Did not get any spicing or tea bag flavors this time. A nice crisp amber. patrick767 (2038), fort wayne, Indiana, USA

Poured a hazy amber with a big, frothy head. There was very little aroma, just some light malts. The flavor was moderately sweet with an extremely dry finish. Something about the flavor and especially the finish seemed off though. It was okay, but I’m not at all impressed. burpfrank (292), carpinteria, California, USA
