Aroma is sweet and a bit citrusy. Flavor is smooth, creamy citrus caramel flavor that is very complex for an amber. Overall, I found this beer to be a jewel of a find. Definitely underrated. Fairly malty, with a nice hop bite. Finish is smooth and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sour, but overall a well-rounded, mellow brew. JFURYCAT (791), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA

It was okay-it had the usual ingredients I associate with pale ales with a little more on the hop side. papajohn (1055), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA

A dark, sweet/sour yeasty aroma (intriguing!), hint of tennis ball (really!). Poured a beautiful somewhat cloudy red. Flavour of malt, hint of hops, grass, touch of grain - a little sour malt, not very bitter - nice, actually. A tad flat (no bubbles to speak of), the grain wins out in the linger-contest. I’d like to try this on cask. I’d also ask my sister to get another 6-pack in California some time ... blankboy (3204), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a sparkling copper with a small off-white head. Nice amount of carbonation. Moderately hoppy and a light sweet malt aroma. Palate has a bit of a metallic finish but the taste has a very nice blend of hops and caramel malt. A very pleasant surprise as I don’t expect much from an Amber Ale. I still prefer Anderson Valley’s Hop Ottin’ but I look forward to having this again. GregClow (2496), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Reddish-amber with a small mocha head. Aroma of sweet malt and tea. Nice mouthfeel, a little creamy. Flavour starts roasty, has some tea in the middle, and finishes with some nice hop bitterness. Very nice stuff - as tupalev notes, most Canadian "amber" beers are crap, so this was a nice change from the norm. mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 18, 2005 Poured a dark orange-red color with a thin off white head. The nose was strong with cherries and peach, complemented by a balance of rosted malt and piney hops. Very nice! The taste was very complex. Initially there’s a pronounced floral hoppiness but as your taste buds adjust, citrusy notes come to the front. Toasted malt and caramel notes become more apparent near the end. A great session beer, highly recommended.
