Anderson Valley produces truly excellent brews and this has got to be one of the finest. Beautiful pour, creamy, rich, thick frothy head. Gorgeous, cloudy brown-toffee color. Nicely balanced bitter taste, citrusy aroma. Hmmmm...As they say, the number 1 legal export from Boonville ;) shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA

Rather perfumey hop flavors as well. Some oxidation in the finish, but overall rather nice for what is usually a not ver interesting style. motelpogo (4395), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 26, 2004 This ale is so similar in flavour in how strong it is i would classify it as a IPA if i was blindfolded tasting beer samples. Nice colour of warm leather brown and the head is set at a good amount throughout the drinnking period. its okay in my book which means i will be purchasing it in the future. Its lives up to its billing and then some. Great smooth fullbodied flavor with big eggshell head and nice dark amber color. Tastes is great!!! Another very good California beer. mjg74 (2000), La Mesa, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 8, 2004 Pours a dark amber color with a medium head. Alot of flavors going on in this beer. Has a nice hoppy taste, but not to strong. It tastes a little spicy at the end. Quality brewing from a great brewery. Rastacouere (5562), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 7, 2004 Deep amber, clear, very effervescent. Big off-white head displays tight lacing and lasts long. Shy nose of caramel reminiscent malt. Limited flavor range of caramelic malt and dominating various nuts. Mild acidity, the slightest leafy/almond skin bitterness. Light to medium body, highly carbonated and tongue-biting. Unexciting to say the least.
