FlssmrBrewAlum (245), South Chicago Suburbs, Illinois, USA Oct 6, 2008 Pint draft served at "Refresher" something (St. Helena, CA). My wonderful trip to Cali! Poured a very nice dark amber hue with sizable tan-ish head. Yum. Aromas of caramel malts and light hoppy bitterness. Taste is similar, the maltiness takes center stage, caramel and biscuity notes, balanced well with a light citrusy hoppiness that leads to a mid-bitter finish. A very good amber and a beer I rather enjoyed as a session ale.. albeit, changing gears after a day of wine tasting and the Russian River sampler was difficult. Cheers! oh6gdx (6334), Vaasa, Finland Sep 30, 2008 Bottled@SBWF2008. Ambery brown colour, small white head. Aroma is caramel, some spices and yeast with some rather acidic notes too. Flavour is fruity, wooden and fruity hops along with some mild nuttyness. Ryan82SM (24), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Sep 28, 2008 The aroma is pleasant and malty, even sweet. The appearance is a nice brown, nearly rusty color, but not opaque. The hops are certainly part of the flavor, but not dominant. I don’t detect the caramel flavor previously mentioned, but rather a light citrus flavor. The texture is creamy and light. A good beer, but a bit overrated. drjay44 (162), Colorado, USA Sep 22, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a nice small bubbled head, color is coppery brown...nose is mild hops, sweet malt....tastes mostly of sweet malt, mild hop bitterness, with an off taste to finish...mouth feel is adequate with some small bubble lift. anders37 (2741), Malmö, Sweden Sep 21, 2008 Draught @ WABF 2008. Pours a clear dark amber color with a small off-white head. Fruity malty caramel Sweetish malty caramel flavor with some hoppy hints. Sweetish malty caramel finish with some hints of hops in the aftertaste.
