Hazy, dark gold color with a lasting off-white head. Decent lacing on glass. Aroma of malt, and don’t judge if you can’t get the same effect, caramel apple. Taste is, what can I say, bitter, go figure, with a good amount of malt to accompany. I enjoyed this ESB, yet others, including Fullers, still did more for me. marcus (1864), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 21, 2007 This golden ale poured with a decent off-white head and a barnyard hoppy aroma. It is actually quite bitter even for an ESB, but there is a nice malt balance. jstraw (765), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Nose is considerably hoppy, with a nicely balanced combination of rusty, metallic blood orange/nuts and a slight bit of mandarin orange, grapefruit and other citrus. Heavy notes of nut bread tasted and smelled, with a toasted bread crust flavor, starchy and bitter on the tongue, very full in the mouth, wonderfully bitter, wonderfully malty. This one really surprised me. I love it. IrishBoy (2712), Bakersfield, California, USA
