Tastes of anglo-hops with pale malt with a hint of butter and a light toastiness. Plenty of carbonation. I’m really not sure about this one - not enough crystal malt for my ESB expectations. One-dimensional cheap hopping, is this Goldings? Still marked as "Belk’s ESB". Hmmm. AgentSteve (1374), SF Bay Area, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 14, 2008 Pours a bit copperish with a thin cream colored head. The nose is bland and very English in malt and subtle hop. The flavor is the same with a decent dry finish. Decent mouthfeel. fidel (944), Livermore, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 25, 2008 has a hoppy, peppery, toasty aroma. pours a very english ESB copper/gold color, a little hazy. has a very hearty flavor with peppery hops, sweetish malts and a thick mouthfeel. alcohol evident but not obtrusive. just lets you know you’re drinking a big boy beer. thick with enough carbo to keep it from being too creamy or heavy. nice bitter finish on this one. a winner in my book. i wish more west coast breweries would make ESB style beers. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 25, 2008 A Mes rate: bottle at GBBF. Superb bright amber with a good white head. Lovely creamy malt aroma with decent earthy notes and a good hoppy topping. Flavour wise it’s not even close to an ESB but it’s certainly tasty. A good, well balanced all rounder and really enjoyable. Straight down the line but everything it does, it does well. harrisoni (6798), Ashford, Kent, England
