What a monster head. A good third of the bottle ended up on the counter before I got it in a glass. Cloudy orange with ample lacing. Hoppy bite flavor is nothing special, but good.

It poured a clear golden liquid with a small white foam. Weak smell of hops and malt. Medium smooth mouthfeel, medium body and medium bitterness. Taste of malt, bread and hops.

Malty and hoppy boringness strike another lackluster ESB. I am disliking this style more and more. I think I need a trip to london!!

12 oz bottle Market of Choice. Poured a cloudy orange with a one inch white head. Aroma was caramel and biscuit malt mixed well with some floral hop aroma. The flavor was initially caramel malt, but then it exploded into floral and citrus hop flavors that were far more pronounced than in most ESBs. A solid brew all around.

Bottle. Ölrepubliken, Göteborg. Amber colour with an off-white head. Malty, caramel, spicy hops, light citrus, not a lot of aroma hops, but a very bitter finish. Too much alcohol for the style.

Confusion...the description on Ratebeer says it used to be called "Belk’s ESB"...well the bottle I just sampled is Belk’s and it’s from a new shipment of bottles. Anyway...22oz bomber. Pours a slightly opaque golden colour with foamy head. Aroma is a wonderful balance of west coast hops and malt. Flavour is buscuity malt chased away quickly by an almost IPA level of hopiness that is both tart and has a hint of sweetness in the finish. Complex, very pleasing and frighteningly easy to drink. Yes!

I haven’t tried this since they called it Belk’s ESB, but it was never my favorite of theirs. Bitter, but not terribly memorable or complex.

bottle 355 ml
Appearance: great mid amber look with extra large creamy snowy cap. Good lace shown. 4+
Nose: soft mineral hp character with gentle blend of malts. Clean and more like malty Bohemian than ESB.
Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied. Malty lighter centre with more definite bitter hop walls. Soft with hop crispness. Earthy mineral finish with light fruity bitterness and hint of alcohol. Well composed smart ale. Brewmaster knows what he/she is doing.
