Reddish brown pour with a tan head. Sweet fruity nose. Flavor is odd: like a thin abbey dubbel, yeasty and sweet, but with a vaguely plasticine taste. Not bad overall, but some weirds off notes.

Dark red-brown with a medium foamy tan head. Smell is sweet; brown sugar and maybe maple. Flavor is more earthy. A bit sweet, like carmalized carrots or something. Malty as well. Smooth but a little oily. Good, but an unusual taste that is hard to describe.

Bottle. Poured with a red-tinged brown hue, with just a thin head and a sticky top. The aroma is stiff -- almost maple syrupy, thick with a malty sweetness. The drink is solid and full-flavored, like a liquid fig newton, sweet yet dark fruity, almost chewy. You could almost dunk this in milk. (#3441, 4/29/2008)

Deep dark ruby-brown; small yellow rim. Little nose, a bit citrussy. Pale and other malts. Bread, bit o’ liquorice, more malts. Fruity, with orangepeel. Medium bodied at best. Strong Belgian ale that has been alleviated with???

Bottle. Pours deep clear brown with creamy head. Aromas of banana and pear. Nice spicy taste.

22 oz., no date fromhellbilly and the Mystery Swap 3.0 Clear ruby with brown highlights and a one finger brown head, fades to a ring after 20 seconds or so. Aroma of raisins, figs, bananas, and prunes. There is also a rubbery element--more specifically, it’s the smell of the rubber bead under a white growler cap. Belgian yeast and sweet candi sugar are also apparent with some alcohol, and a faint roastiness is in the background. Flavor is less fruity and more grainy than I had expected, and the banana overtakes the raisin for the dominant fruit. Alcohol is present, but not 9% present. Semi-dry lightly roasty finish with minimal bitterness. Medium-full body with low carbonation. Not the best dubbel I’ve had, but good nonetheless.

22oz. Pours dark brown with a red rim and off-white head. Nose is mostly sweet malt with fairly noticeable alcohol depending on the temperature. Flavor is sweet malt with raisin and banana yeast with some slight spice on the finish. Very true to the style, but less than inspiring.

Surprisingly uncloudy brown pour with minimal off-white head. Malty-sugary aroma and a little chocolate nuttiness on the palate, but overall a nice dark fruit taste throughout. Not as yeast as expected, but lovely overall.
