Dark malty aroma with notes of molasses and roots in the aroma. Sweet dart malt flavour with toasty malt notes. Alcoholo is not at all prominent. Average to light-medium palate. Quite drinkable double. AdamGott (190), Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA

Not a lot of hops but they aren’t suppposed to be in this style. I am not a huge Belgian fan but this one is probably the best double that i have had. JohnnyJ (1344), Carlsbad, California, USA

Flavors of fruit, malt, rotting fruit, and some spice and bittersweetness. Pretty good, but I honestly can’t figure out if I like it or not. There’s just that very strange rotting fruit flavor that I can’t get out of my mouth. Prostman (1077), Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jun 30, 2006 Pours like rootbeer w/ shallow semi creamyfroth. Aromas of port wine with a drop of medicinal raisons. Full nectar w/ ample residuals. Flavors are strong and fruity w/ plums, brown sugar, fig, rootbeer, licorice, and medicine. Finish is long, fruity and medicinal with a trace of bittering. As it warms you get a little iodne and leather. Alcohol is well hidden. Overall: complex and slightly sweet. A true expression from an American brewer. Highly recommended. DuffMan (2766), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada

Rich mahogany brown with a tall tan head showing good retention. Aromas of bubblegum, milk chocolate, and faint fruit. Palate full of flavours of the same, velvety mouthfeel, medium bodied. Very well balanced and a pleasure to drink. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
