Pours red like wine. Nice nose with lots of esters and spices. Flavor lightly sweet and comes off very fresh. Pretty good.

Poured a dark mahoganey to black color with absolutely no head (after the first couple second fizzles) and very minimal lacing - very unimpressive for anything claiming to be Belgian. Poured it at 45C (as the bottle directed, 40-45C), but this was a bit better as it warmed (although I was never impressed with it at any temperature). Aroma was caramel-like with some chocolate and eventually some yeast. Flavor was mostly caramel with some chocolate and even toffee or molasses? The dark fruits were very subdued and overcome by the alcohol astringency (very undeveloped stuff going on here). The beer finished with a touch of sugar-ness, but just didn’t come across as authentic, as if someone took some brown sugar and mixed it in the brew or something - almost like a Belgian stout. Mouthfeel was moderate to slightly thick.

Pours out dark brown with a tan head that rapidly disappears. Smell is fruity, sweet, malty, and apparently a large amount of alcohol. Taste is over powered with alcohol on about half of the bottle. The second half of the bottle yeilds to a pleasing, refreshing, easy to drink and actually very tasty brew. Fruity and sweet, it provides a nice after dinner beer, or as I drank mine - on the couch at 1230 watching a dvd. The alcohol presence becomes known towards the end of the bottle when you start feeling the kick of the 9%. It is too strong for a dubbel, but hey, its from CA and they go out of the way at times to make over the top beers. This is one of those, but it was certainly good, worth drinking, and if it wasnt 6.99 it would become a beer I would stock in my fridge without question. Hell I may get another few bottles just to have. Excellent.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours dark with a tan head. Aroma of citrus, Fruit, roast, and spices. Flavor is a smooth, fruit, and citrus. Good brew, but not a great dubbel.

Pours a deep brown color with red highlights. Head is slightly off white and quickly gone. Dark fruits in the aroma with just a hint of with a hint of baked goods. Big malty flavor continues with the fruitiness before finishing hot. A nice strong dubbel.

This is obviously an American made dubbel. It has neither the complexity of Belgian dubbel’s nor the character. With that being said, it’s a really good beer that’s not hard on the wallet like some Belgain dubbel’s can be. Aroma was plums, spicy, figs and malty. Appearance was a deep dark brown. Flavors were satisfying with notes of said plums, figs, sweetness (really sweet in fact) and the malt character. As I said, overall an enjoyable American made dubbel. I’d probably buy again if I’m in the mood and don’t want to spend too much and get enough to share with someone else.

Sweet, peppery and very spicy aroma. A touch of yeast. The flavor has a thick spiciness on top of a yeast bed, exhibiting nice candi sugar and trappist yeast flavors. Lots of alcohol kick. The pour is really ugly with no head at all.
