Dark brown color with a thin head. The aroma and taste are pretty much the same mixture of rich malt and chocolate with caramel lacing. Some fruit on the end.

Deep amber with ruby hints, decent, faintly fizzy but lasting head. Big aroma of molasses and caramel. Flavors were varied and complex, molasses and caramel with a full complement of dark fruits, namely cherry, but also some sweet fig and date notes coming through. Faint hint of port wine and chocolate on the finish. Reminded me quite a bit of Chimay Red. This could have been spectacular with just a bit more richness in the body and less of a prickly mouthfeel. Instead, merely very good.

well, once i finally got past the super thick layer of wax and was able to open this it poured a dark ruby magenta body with a large volcanic vanilla rootbeer float head. yeast, plums, clove, shag carpet, and vanilla with a splash of rum nose. rubber bands, yeast, chocolate, rose petals, wild berry vines, and flapjacks are the predominant flavors. finish is somewhat dry, i say somewhat because it is still sweet, but causes my mouth to salivate. lingering lemon finish. i like these complex brews. some cinnamon, red pepper, wet sewing line, wurthers candy finish. i like this beer. it is a bit rough, but it is good. my only real complaint that i will not let influence my rating is that they over wax the caps. seriously, it caused me to mispour a bit onto my desk while drinking because the skin that was over the cap flapped back over the spout and cause an ounce to go everywhere.

Bottle. Small tan head that mostly diminished, fine-small sized bubbles, poor lacing, carbonated, transparent, and a reddish brown hue. Malty, caramel, sweet, fruity, clove nose. Flavor was sweet, malty, caramel, vinuous and spicyness. Smooth mouthfeel. Light-medium body.

Dense dark brown appearance, moderate head formation. Clove, caramel, brown sugar aroma. Sweet clove flavor, burnt dryish caramel, bready, finishes fairly dry.

Poured a dark brown mahogony color with a thin, fizzy head. The nose was of bananas, cloves, candi sugar, lots of phenolic esters and some roasted grains. The taste starts with raisins, bread and brown sugar. The end was mild and sour with a flemish bite in the aftertaste. Creamy and smooth with just enough carbonation to keep your mouth awake. Mouthfeel is a little watery for its heavy taste. This seems more like an American version of a Belgian Strong than a Dubbel, but still tasty all the same.

Lovely Smooth, dark and good lace. Yeasty, lots of chocolate malt, and carmel and toffee, not too sweet.Apple, cocoa, and moderate use of spice. Suitable carbonation. An ale that could convert one’s mates to craft beer. Very quaffable. Medium mouthfeel.

Good double, sugary and caramely. Rich fruit and almost candy like or dessert finish.
