Good double, sugary and caramely. Rich fruit and almost candy like or dessert finish.

Pours a dark hazy brown with a thin white head. Smells of apricot, grape and apple, very fruity nose. That fruity flavor is evident at first in the taste with the hoppy bite. It then fades to a more dark smokey flavor. A very nice range on the palate and it finishes nicely.

This one was not bad but nowhere near as good as the tripel. Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is sweet and tangy with ripe fruits present. The mouthfeel is moderately thick. The flavor is sweet tangy malts with a nice ripe fruit presence and a bit of nut. There is a mild alcohol burn and a bitter finish. The malts are a bit too light for this style of beer - I wish that there was a richer malt element.

Split bottle with cousin Bryan. A bit sweet with a nice spicy aroma. Nice rich finish. Watch out for this one ’cause it will go down easy and get you pretty happy.

Bottle @ the weekly RB Poker Gathering
Mahogany color, ruby hues, bright carbonation but light head retention; some lacing. Nose is sweet with plums and rich malts. Some special B. The flavor has cocoa, molasses, carob and light roast. A bit of pancake and biscuity malts mingle. The finish is rich, near cloying, and roasty with some chocolate notes. Extremely rich and filling.

On tap at Jack’s Cannery Bar at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. Pours a dark orange to light brown with hardly any noticeable head. Sweet, cotton candy like aroma. Flavor has some pipe and chewing tobacco accents and turns just a bit cloying and candy-like near the end. Decently thick mouthfeel. Had better from AVBC.

Stewed raisins, brown sugar and cinnamon rolls in the aroma. Deep brown with a limp dime thin head. Alcohol in the fore followed by mild spiciness and some spun sugar sweetness. This beer touches all the bases, but it is brutish and clumsy and lacking the flavor range of a good Dubbel.

Nice head at very first, but it does fall fairly quickly. Dark burgundy color. Alcoholly flavor. No scent to speak of, but what there is, is light and clean. Not sure where they get off saying it has a milkshaky flavor. Definitaly raisins to me. Not as heavy a body as I’d expect.
