Blackened ruby with a large, fizzy, off-white head. Malt-accented aromatics, with hints of molasses, chocolate, coffee, roast and charcoal, along with a light hint of prunes, cassis and brown sugar. Medium bodied with a creamy and alcoholic texture. Flavor is malt accented, with little yeast presence, along with light chocolate, roast and nut flavors. Hints of raisins and prunes as well, but light. Laughable compared to true Belgians. Too roasty, more like a stout.

Some sourness along with lots of fruit and bread in aroma. Some toffee. a bit of yeastiness. Taste is...somewhat heavy and ponderously fruity, with not quite enough leavening from the doughy parts of the malt/yeast. Woodiness. I....liked it...but there was something off about it I couldn’t quite identify.

pours a dark mahogony w/ a small tan well laced head. Smells a bit sour and of belgian yeast some light fruit and spice. Palate is a little sour and acidic w/ an ok body and lightly creamy Flavor is a wierd sour a lot of spice and some light malt w/ some unidentifiable fruit. This was not something I liked. Thanks to blake for sharing.

This beer poured a beautiful chestnut brown color with nice ruby highlights. The head was full and a nice tan. The aroma is rich showing characteristics of oak and cherries. The flavor is very good with a full presence of alcohol. This beer seems to share a lot with barleywines. In the taste some more of that oak and cherries along with a faint taste of pepper. This is a smooth drinker meant to be sipped and enjoyed.

The aroma is strong and roasty, light red fruit, caramel, spicy (nutmeg, clove), sour. The appearance is a dark red body with a spotty white head that doesn’t really have much lacing. Very thin head. The flavor is hugely spicy. Clove, cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper. Theres also some cooked brown sugar and nuts. Not bad... The palate is medium full with a tingling carbonation.

Very solid beer -- hides the alcohol with creamy/roasty notes and a full-bodied malt nose. Can one roast fruit? Perhaps, and perhaps it would taste like this beer. Lost its head quickly, and made me feel like i was drinking a coke which is never appealing.. but I’ll blame the bottle for that one. Or me.

Bottle from State Line, Elkton, MD. Pours dark amber with medium tan head. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus, dark fruit, and spices. Tastes caramel malty, with some figs, brown sugar, and corn flakes. Very good.

Bottle: Clear orange with a thin white head, oranges and brown sugar in the aroma, with a touch of alcohol, starts sweet and ends sweeter, gummy mouthfeel.
