Bottle from the Capital Ale House. POurs clear amber with a small whitish head. Nose is big fruity esters, mild sugary notes, light yeast, mild flowery notes, and some moderate alcohol. Taste is much the same. Fruit, alcohol, yeast, flowery notes and creamy malts. Typical "triple" without being very complex. Body was leaning towards syrupy and is very rich . Light carbonation feel to it . Finish is more fruit notes, flowers, light caramel, yeast, mild sugary notes and light maltiness.

Fancy bottle pours light head which disapers rather fast. Can not detect the sugar as much as in the Double. Rather plain but decent alchol flavor.

Pours amber and flat with a very small white head. Smells of straw and sugar. Tastes very bland with some raisin and caramel notes. Very far below average for a Belgian style Tripel.

Draught, Archer Ale House, Bellingham

Bright amber colour. A deep whiff shows me some peachy, perfumey notes and light caramel accents. The flavour has a lot of brown sugar sweetness. Alcohol tries in vain to cut through the thick body, ultimately failing and consigning the beer to cloyingness. There is a restrained fruitiness somewhere underneath the sugar but it lacks yeast and hop character entirely, something which is tough to forgive at the best of times, impossible to forgive in a tripel.

Bottle. Banana aroma with hints of caramel and sour fruits. Alcohol is present in the aroma. Transparent copper color with a small light tan head. Not very appealing for the style...wheres the cloudiness and the head? Start is slightly sweet, nutty, earthy, with caramel notes. Slight alcohol burn to finish. Somewhat thin. A disappointing contrast to the Dubbel, which was much better.

The beer after my struggle with the wax/plastic sealer sets in my special triple glass a luminous copper color with the head modest in size, frothy in texture and the color a light tan, as it erodes quickly, the residual lace is thin but covers the glass nonetheless. Nose has hints of plums, over ripe and sweet, nice malt presence, also some fusel alcohol with the start sweet, and the grain profile adequate, the top is light to moderate. Finish is pertinently acidic, the hop admirable in their spiciness, desert bone dry aftertaste, a drinkable beer with a nice tummy warming from the 10 percent ABV, but maybe its just me but I was expecting something more, as Anderson Valley is a long time favorite with me.

Bottled. Golden coloured. Banana and yeast aroma. Extremely sweet, yeasty and wheaty flavour. Slightly cloying.

Reddish copper with small and fleeting white head. Aroma was a mix of sweet candy sugar and pepper and fruit. Watery and medium bodied. Flavor was alcoholic fruit, spice, sweetness. Not as good as the Double.
