I was beginning to think i would never have the chance to have this beer, but out of every person i hit up on this site only Darkelf knew where to still find some( thank you for that). Although the aroma was quite faint, a small profile of roastiness carried by a mocha undertone was what was to be found. Its a pretty smooth porter and has a average flavor that consists of very minor features that aren’t exaclty easy to put a label to. Look was a firm brown with tiny amount of head development. Nothing really special or for me to have gotten so excited about.

The aroma came across as a little moldy to me. The mouthfeel was relatively light with light roasted character. Otherwise my original rating holds. Original rating follows. Light brown head with an almost black body. A hint of ruby shows when held to bright light. The aroma reminds me of a nice campfire. Roasted coffee and some whole grain bread also come into play. The mouthfeel is a little thick. The taste of this porter is incredibly smooth. Notes of chocolate, and roasted coffee. There is also a little hint of prunes, but it is very faint. A nicely done porter. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2005 Deep ruby/dark brown pour with colossal tan head. Aroma of big chocoff, dark malt, figs, molasses. Tastes dark malty, with big chocoff, almonds. Complex, dense, chocolatey palate. Gets very coffeeish as it warms, and the balance and complexity could use some work. Still, a well above average porter. TheBeerOrg (1583), Kentucky, USA

Aroma of fruity vinous esters, piney hops and some roasted malt. Taste is lightly sweet and winey with mild notes of chocolate, grape, mango and plums. Not bad, but somewhat strange for a porter.
