Commercial Description:
Hop-Heads, your dreams have come true! Hop Ottin' is Boontling for "hardworking hops," and they're surely hard at work in this brew. Hop Ottin' starts with a strong floral aroma, which winds into a deep and complex body. In an intriguing balance, honey-drenched malts coat rich hop undertones. At length, the hops prevail, with a satisfyingly crisp finish. Hop Ottin' bites like a cankicky bluetail (Hop Ottin' bites like a rattlesnake looking for a fight.)

Definitely a fruity/floral aroma, bitterness was mild. It was easy to enjoy it in big gulps.

The floral aspects of this beer smack the nose west coast-style with crisp bitterness to follow. The medium body ends as a regular IPA which distinguishes itself via its garden-like qualities. The malts add some dryness to the overall mix but do little to restrain the floral overtones which are satisfying as far as bitterness but seem flat without a malty backbone to land on.

Aroma has hops, somewhat subdues. Pours a little thicker than some IPAs. Hops comes through nicely. Flavor is good but not quite great, but a solid IPA.

Remarkable?! Not at first, but I was quickly changed in mind. Decent balance but not plesant at first. big floral hop aroma. Yellow with slight ruby hue. Collared rings with lacing that stuck. Medium mouthfeel. Slick/resinous palate. Soft conditioning but has a bite afterwards. Thin head diminishing to a sheen. honey yellow head. Drinkability only ok at first. nuttyness undertone. Alcohol barely detectable. Addictive when it comes to the hoppiness. Tried 1-2; the last 3 were awesome, maybe the weakness of it is what makes it so drinkable?

Had on 3/27/2001. Aroma is a light hop scent. Color is a nice golden with good carbonation and head. Taste mellow and hoppy. Starting with a light medium body it goes down with sharp feel. Finish is a light hop flavor and light malt flavor backed by a strong bitterness. I do not feel it is as well balanced as a Pale Ale should be.

9/12/07 From the bottle. Aroma is grassy, earthy American hops forward balanced with some light sweet malt. Appearance is light hazy orange-gold with a moderate off-white head. Flavor is grassy, earthy hops forward, well balanced, with a moderate malt background without too much character. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carb feel. Overall, great balance in flavor but lacking a little in the aroma balance.

Bright and luminous bronze-orange pour. Fairly insubtantial initial aroma of soap and cotton candy. Toffee and raspberries with a pleasant malty tone after a while. Tastes crisp and quite astringent for the most part. Soap with a floral disposition dominates. Heavy tangerine syrup simmering underneath. Finishes with a vegetal steam of yerba mate, with that dirty hay and raw thyme bitterness. Spritzy palate, with a kind of sugary bite on the slick soap. Mild urinal cake on the distant smack. A bit hard to put back, though nothing’s really wrong here. Boring.

Bottle. Honey color. Sweet, floral aroma with some hops as well (not as hoppy as I would have expected it to be). Quite bitter for me, almost a shock to the mouth. However, it is a crisp bitterness. No long aftertaste. Wish there was more flavor to it. Overall, a fun and perky beer that I would try again.
