Commercial Description:
Hop-Heads, your dreams have come true! Hop Ottin' is Boontling for "hardworking hops," and they're surely hard at work in this brew. Hop Ottin' starts with a strong floral aroma, which winds into a deep and complex body. In an intriguing balance, honey-drenched malts coat rich hop undertones. At length, the hops prevail, with a satisfyingly crisp finish. Hop Ottin' bites like a cankicky bluetail (Hop Ottin' bites like a rattlesnake looking for a fight.)

Bottle - Had this last night for first time in years. Fantastic Rust/Amber color. Wonderful floral, slightly piney nose. The palate expodes with grapefruit. I love it. This is the beer that showed me that I am a hop-head. I thank thee.

Bottle at pub. Pours a red amber, wonderful floral aroma of sweet red fruit. Taste starts off sweet with red fruits and toffee, then gets down to an exceptional, but still balanced, bitterness in the finish. Top-notch IPA.

I learned a couple of new words of local lingo reading this bottle. Not sure what they meant though. This was a nice IPA that lived up to its name. Hop Ottin’, means it has bite and it did.

Friend picked up a six of this last night and i was glad to try another brew from anderson valley. Poured small head which went away quickly. Fruity citrusy aroma. Crisp and refreshing taste with a very large bite and lingering taste. Overall i enjoyed this beer but was left looking for more.

pours a clear gold copper with a nice two finger fluffy off white head. aroma is orange peel hops with a touch of pine and malt. has a light to medium body with descent carbonation and lacing. flavor is the same as aroma and has a syrupy mouthfeel to it. very strong on the hops, but not much of any malt to balance it out. has a standard dry hop aftertaste, and has a medicine aroma and flavor. not bad though hop wise.

on tap at the brewery in September 2006: Nice golden amber color with a small head on top. Light sweet grassy nose. Nice hoppy kick - not to edgy - fullmouth with an exceptional balance!

This is a safe, clean representation of an IPA. Nothing out of the ordinary here, by the book. BUT, it tastes pretty darn good. I generally like the offerings from AVBC they make pretty solid, true to the style beers.
