On draft at Old Eagle Tavern, Manayunk. Poured hazy gold with thick head. Flavor consists of sweet malts and thick citrus hoppiness. Finished bitter.

Cloudy copper, with a full tan head. Resiny pine aroma that hints towards some serious hops. Medium body, with an astringent hop bitterness that lingers a bit too long. Despite the flash of hops initially, fairly one dimensional.

On tap at the Mad Mex in Robinson. Why do I continue to torture myself with IPA? I am not purposefully attempting to make IPA lovers angry! I just want to taste every possible beer out there Not a whole lotta aroma. Pour is slightly darker than and hazy compared to the norm. You can barely tell it is gonna be an IPA. Same old pale yellow american beer colors. Big hoppy flavor impact, it is funny how so many of these beers come across with the same initial impressions. Bitter back of the throat grapefruit rind experiences. Medicinal qualities that just will not quit. Get ready to pucker your mouth. I thought that hops were to used as a preservative but now it is desirable. Finish is lasting and lingers for at least a half hour afterwards. Gimmie a glass of water.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear, warm, amber with a creamy, off-white head leaving a discreet lacing. Fantastic aroma of pine and citrus. Medium body with lightly sweet caramel malt that is quickly overpowered by distincly bitter aroma hops with some citric notes as well. It starts pretty promising, but somehow fails to deliver. 280307

12 oz bottle - clear tawny in the glass with a small white head that leaves lovely thick lacing. Beautiful woody aroma of citrus and pine. Superb mouthfeel - excellent delicate carbonation and a well-balanced earthiness that finds the hops and the malt mingling expertly, before giving way to a medium bitter finish. I have yet to be disappointed by Anderson Valley. Great show.

Redish tangerine color. Very full flavor--a good stong hop sting and a honey-malt flavor (don’t worry, no actual honey in it). Very smooth, almost syrupy. Honey taste a bit cloying if served over 55. [Compared with a Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale] What strikes me the most is how rich and smooth the Hop Ottin is compared with the cleansing spicy-tasting Sierra. [Lagunitas Kill Ugly Radio] The Hop Ottin is richer, darker, fuller flavor. The Ugly Radio seems more focused on grass taste; the Hop Ottin has that but with a lot of other powerful honey-drenched flavors.

poured from a 22oz. bomber into a tulip snifter glass, thanks to my buddy Jeepers A: Pours a rich mahogany shade of burnt siena/orange, with a very luscious, thick off-white head, which immediately begins to leave sticky lacing. Lots of tiny bubbles rise to the surface from what looks to be a semi-cloudy carbonation. S: Bam! Smells wonderfully balanced, strong NW hop aroma, some definite grapefruit & piney zest coupled with a nice underlying biscuity maltiness. T/M: Big, and I do mean BIG hoppy bitterness smacks your palate upside the head right from the get-go, and it is gooooood. But lest you think this guy is one-dimensional, think again. Though the flavoring is far more juniper & pine than the scent, and the maltiness is far more subdued, this is a deliciously refreshing beer. Feels perfectly oily swirling around on the tongue as well. D: I only knocked this down a peg for the massive hoppiness; it would most likely make ME not want to put back a ton of these in a sitting. But the beer is very good and in a pinch, it wouldn’t be hard to do so.

A very nice IPA. Intensely hoppy aroma and flavor. Nice malt backbone and strangely balanced and smooth.
