dark hazy amber, thin head, dripping lace, sweet malt aroma, rich malt flavor, balanced but not overpowering hops leaving an underlying bitterness through the finish, just a hint of a hot ester in the aftertaste

Hard Liver ’08
Very bright golden-amber. Piney nose with a hint of orange, wood. Quite sweet, with chewy malts. I give it a moderate thumbs up.

Tap @ The Front Door Boise: A dark mahogany color with a thick retentive fuzzy head. The nose is bright in malted fruitiness; raspberry, caramel sweetness and a pleasant floral citrus hop note. Very little alcohol in the nose but warm as it goes down. Doughy malt body with a full and pleasing drinkability. Really nice barleywine, just a tiny bit too sweet for me in the tail, but one glass is perfect of BW anyway.

Draft. amber beer with a thin whitish head. Earthy, malty aroma. Sweet malt flavor that’s quite sweet. Some hops backing. Suller bodied. Lingering sweetness.

Very sweet barleywine. Big caramel flavor up front, brown sugar, chewy and a touch cloying up front. I enjoyed this beer, but with the sweetness this has it’s a small glass kinda beer, not quite to the sweetness level of JW Lees, but getting up there. Pours very clear dark copper with a smooth khaki head.

Hard Live 08. Sweet aroma of caramel, toffee, fruit and some floral hops. Dark amber pour. More sweetness comes through in the flavor with a decent floral finish. Flavor is fruity and sweet, yet somewhat hoppy too. Enjoyable.

Draught @ Papago Brewery<P> As it spills majestically from the tap into my waiting goblet, the beer presents a limpid mahogany color, the head portly in size, creamy in texture with the color an eye-appealing light tan, and as the head sinks slowly into oblivion, a velum like sheet of lace forms and welds itself to the goblet. The nose has a monstrous sweet malt aroma at the front with hints of butter, also a soupon of alcohol was present, a fine sniffing beer it tis’. Start is favorably sweet, strong malt profile; the top is moderate to full in its feel to the palate. Finish is forbearing in its acidity, the hops are bounteous, and the 8.6 percent ABV, makes its presence known by the “Tummy Warming” feel with the aftertaste dry and long lasting, another magnificent beer from an extraordinary brewery.

Hops and honey in the nose, amber color, low lathery head. Heavy body with flavors of syrup and berries. Sweet think malt turns to a fairly reserved dry spiced end. Like a wee heavy with carbonation. Wow!
