One (Virginia) is yeasty, buttery, and bread like with the malts dominating everything from aroma to taste (ESB) and another bottle from Florida that is quite hoppy with more of an IPA quality. (No doubt different yeasts and hops were used). They are both gold with a light amber hue and an average foamy head. The Florida bottle has some haze. The palate is thin in both but not bad since it’s crisp with carbonation. The beers are both good overall but I like the Virginia example better so I mixed the two together and rated that one. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2009 Herbale earthy hops, grassy with traces of citrus in the nose. Pours pale gold with a thin white head. Clean and crisp pale ale, hoppy upfront with sweet malts finishes with a grassy bitterness. Pretty solid easy drinking pale ale. drfabulous (1254), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2009 Crisp. Decent balance of hops without being too much. Ok for a pale ale. Session beerish. apshah99 (145), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2009 Clear pale gold pour, with thin white head. Very weak grassy aroma. Very smooth taste, with a little citrus and almost honeyed like malt and crisp clean finish with mildly bitter hops. Not very exciting or complex, but not bad. Closest ale to a pilsner I’ve ever had. unclemike (833), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with a massive lasting white head. Nice lacing. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt and mild citrus hops. Flavour’s quite mild and a little watery -- I’d also prefer it a little hoppier. Light to medium bodied. I much prefer the Hop Ottin’ but for a Pale Ale this was O.K.
