Commercial Description:
Each year, when people are starting to unpack their winter clothes and replenish their firewood, our tiny brewery in the coastal redwoods of Northern California makes seasonal preparations of a different kind. As the cold arrives, we release a unique beverage created to add warmth to even the coldest and darkest of winter's days. Winter Solstice Seasonal Ale begins with a very high original gravity to create a hearty and spicy brew with a deep amber hue and a smooth finish. Anderson Valley Brewing Company wishes you the very best for the holiday season and the New Year.

Pours a honey orange with a thick cream head. Aromas of deeply roasted caramel, vanilla, and maple--almost like old fashioned Christmas candy. I love the creamy palate of the solstice beers. This one’s taste leans toward sweet, with a maple and vanilla edge much like its aroma. Some red fruits along with a very faint hop finish.

12 ounce bottle, pours a really nice dark brown. Tons of flavor up front. Maple, vanilla, heavy spices. This is a very interesting take on a winter beer. Finishes almost like a brown beer. The overall aftertaste is not that sweet though or sappy like most brown beers. I dont know why people rate beers so low just because they are a new breed or somthing their not used to. This beer kicks ass !!!!!

Too low in ABV to be a good warmer. If you did a blind taste test with half the winter beers out there this wouldn’t taste any different. Some chocolate, fruit, bitterness, malt. Make it an imperial and I might go for it.

Pours amber brown with a decent sized tan head. Aroma is caramel malt and a little vanilla. Flavor is malty caramel with sweet vanilla notes as well as some dark fruit. Pretty good.

12 oz. bottle. Colour... ruddy amber with a thick head. Nose... funky! Some malt and spice, but generally it smells like my compost bin when it’s full in the summer! Palate... some sweet malt, but mostly tastes like what I imagine the drippings from compost bin would taste like! Something is very wrong here!! Is this a bad batch?!

Bottle. Dark red-brown color, lots of bubbles, thin, oily head. Very appealing. Head vanishes into a thin lace quickly. Aroma of sweet fruits, probably cherry, and malt. Taste is malty, with fruit and spice. Lightly hopped. Not too sweet either, with a touch of sourness. Very well balanced. Medium-light body with highish carbonation, so it is light and refreshing feeling. I like it a lot. Cherry fruity without being overly sweet.
