I’m grinding gears to describe it well, but I would say it is vinous and has notes of anise, chalk, alcohol, white raisins and bourbon. Body is a cloudy brown hue that is pretty fizzy at first and it is one of those odd beers that release a lot of carbonation as you sip. This is a bit distracting and detracts from my enjoyment. Flavor is fairly sweet and those vinous and bourbon notes have me wondering if it is barrel aged... (if you made me guess, I would have said so.) Brown sugar and a touch of dark fruit in the palate. Hmmm... I hoped for better. SirSlarty (68), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 11, 2007 Bottled 2007. Deep reddish amber color. Thin head. Smells like cherries and licorice. Highly malty. Have no idea what spice or traditional Christmas ale flavors are put in here though it’s a very good mixture and not too spicy. MadMan (497), Tempe, Arizona, USA

Aroma is malty sweet and caramel. Flavor is darn close to a malted milk shake at the start then fades into some spices, a blend I can’t exactly identify but I’d guess nutmeg and cinnamon to start. Vanilla is evident throughout with some caramel and quite a bit of malt. Finish has a short sweetness fading to a lingering spiciness and hoppiness. No evident alcohol though strong enough to be a warmer. A kind of odd mixture here but still quite pleasant overall. Funknmilla (600), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Hard to describe. I don’t know what the real spices added here are. Not the best holiday beer I’ve had. Dark amber color. Had a decent amount of hops and then some random spice. asedzie (456), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 29, 2007 Bottle. Pours a deep copper with beige head. Some lacing. Vague aroma of citrus-like hops, pears, toffee and vanilla. Definite vanilla in the flavor right upfront, along with a bit of nutmeg and toasted malt. Bit of bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is a little thin, but this does make it more drinkable. rob897 (62), Buffalo, New York, USA
